Celebrating Mother's Day
GFWC Cranston Community Women's Club started the Mother's Day weekend by bringing gifts to mothers living at Sstarbirth. A facility on the prison grounds who live in a home with their young children during a year of rehabilitation for substance abuse. You can't see their smiles or tears because of confidentiality but picture an 18-year-old living with a child who made a poor decision and is separated from family.

Helping our Veterans

Valerie went shopping with Pat for the ladies at the Holly Charette House. Our favorite project . The children from Metcalf Elem school had a fundraiser to help us select beautiful bedding for our women Vets. Thank you to Mr. Buco a great teacher who supported his students in this fundraiser. The sheets and comforters are a beautiful array of colors. Thanks again GFWC Project Chair for Operation Stand Down.

Education Initiative -

GFWC Cranston Community Women's Club kept it going this weekend. Three members , Pat, Betsy, and Valerie worked at the big celebration sponsored by RI Center for the book. A huge crowd enjoyed author Victoria Jameison who wrote Roller Girl a graphic novel very popular with young girls. Many activities took place today at the beautiful R.I. State House. CCWC was there hosting a table full of books and swag for attendees.

Read Across RI

Pat and Valerie deliver 300 books throughout the state. The books are brand new and given to schools throughout the state. This is one of many activities they have participated in for Read Across RI with other members of the Education team. Congratulations GFWC Cranston. Community Women's Club. Thank you for helping make this great literacy project happen.
