Demand for hygiene products

One in three low-income American families struggle to afford basic non-food household goods — including products related to personal care. In addition, hygiene products such as soap, toothpaste and deodorant are not covered under the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP).

The result is a struggling population in our communities that face tough challenges. Parents worry that they cannot reinforce healthy hygiene habits with their children because of a lack of toiletry essentials. Common coping strategies such as brushing their teeth without toothpaste or washing without soap, can increase the likelihood of health and wellness issues.
